Why can't you use crest white strips on crowns?

I want to use crest white strips for my teeth, except I enjoy four crowns on the front of my top teeth and my dentist said I can't use it for crowns, any suggestions?

Answers:
He probably designed you can't whiten the crowns because they are made of porcelain. The color is binding. If you whiten the teeth on any side of the crowns lighter than the crowns they will stick out and look really doomed to failure. If the teeth are dark on any side of the crowns bleach away! Try to preserve the color duplicate adjectives the path across for a more innate look.
Umm if they are metal crowns (which i doubt), they wont whiten them. If they are those white coloured crowns or dentures, they whiten at a different rate to usual teeth, and im pretty sure you dont want a white rainbow in ur mouth.
