Scale have two noticeably different excess weight percentage...which is correct?

Hi, everyone!
I've tried a few of those electronic fat percentage scales and maintain coming up with different results.

I'm a 22 yr. weak female, 140 lbs and 5'8. When I select "standard" body type it comes up 23% podgy (35 lbs!)...but when I select "athletic" body type it shows 17% fat (23 lbs) - measured in seconds of respectively other.

Which is correct? I know these aren't the most accurate, but one has to be closer than the other. What do these scales consider "athletic" builds to be? I work out at tiniest an hour of cardio and 30 min of weights a day - but I hold a hard time calling myself an athlete when in attendance are so many triathletes out in that!

Answers:    consumer scales that use bioelectrical impedance to measure body grease are highly not exact.
