My grandpa has stage IV colon cancer that have metastasized to the liver. He also has Alzheimer's.
Last hours of darkness it seems close to a switch flipped and he started acting so different. He's peed his pants three time surrounded by the past 24 hours. He is severely confused and says things that don't get sense in any means of access. It seems that whenever he is trying to tramp he almost falls over, and he can barely stand up.
Do you reckon this is the Alzheimer's? Or has possibly the cancer spread to his brain? We've known that he have had cancer for something like 8 months, and we know that he doesn't have much time.
How long do you expect he has moved out?

Answers: There is no way to answer most of your question. I deal day after day with an elderly relative next to dementia. Any upset or change can set her sour as far as changes within toilet habits. It doesn't mingy the cancer has spread to his brain, only just that he had a discouraging day and is probably getting worse. Expect impossible to tell apart type things to continue - however he might bring better if he has a correctable problem cause the worsening of his physical symptoms. He may also feel better and be reorientated within the AM but you can not count on it. There is no real channel of telling the direct future contained by my experience.
Often people beside dementia or AD get worse within the evening. This is called sun-downing - where on earth symptoms get worse as the sun go down. This worsening of symptoms in the evening is usual.
You need to win hospice involved if they are not already. When he is getting close to death he will quit ingestion and drinking and this is a better sign of how long he might have a bit than his toilet habits will be. Toilet customs can change due to bright medicines or lately about anything. The peeing is not really something he have any control over. You should probably check to make sure he have not developed a UTI because his peeing might be a symptom of an active infection.

Unfortunately there's no way to communicate if his behavior is from the cancer spreading to his brain or alzheimer's unless he gets a CT or MRI of the brain. I'm guessing since you said he doesn't own much time left that they don't mull over knowing will change his treatment so they're not really looking into the incentive. I know it's really hard to see him close to this. Hang in at hand.
