Answers: At some point you will receive a letter from the mammo center (within a month, per federal law). If you enjoy not arranged for an appointment for the further testing by afterwards, call the number on the epistle and make sure they rota you.
A millimeter is the size of a pencil dot. A centimeter is about a partly inch. 6cm is about 3-4 inches wide open. You should be able to surface that, so I am assuming it is 6mm, which you probably would NOT be able to surface.
Don't panic over it, but don't rebuke it. Nationally, about 10% of mammograms require more imaging, so it is pretty adjectives. Most of those returns end up mortal nothing. Half of those achieve biosied, and 80% of biopsies are benign (not cancer).
The nodule is just a word they use for not really knowing what it is. It could be a tumor or a cyst. You will probably hold to have an ultrasound and experience a biopsy versus a cyst aspiration. I work in a hospital outpatient dept and I see this only about everyday. Most come surrounded by for a biopsy but it ends up being only a cyst which is just a fluid full up nodule. If you need a biopsy they (a radiologist) will do it and afterwards you will have another mammo and consequently go home. Hope this help and good luck..............
