Why there is a blood contained by urine for a 57/F, after taking antibiotics (clarithomycin)?
the EENT gave the antibiotic b/c of throat headache last month. is it the make happen of the blood in the urine immediately? this is the second time that my aunt suffer from this... it's like have a menstruation b/c a lot of blood clot to the point she own to wear sanitary napkin again even she's already menopause. the first time she suffer from hematuria is when she take tablets before for distress (pfizer brand) it was also given by a phycisian within a reputable hosp.after a week of taking the meds, she found out the blood in her urine. is it a serious condition... or it will dance away just close to the first time...
Answers: Last time it occured when she took pain prescription. It will be better if she gets a check up to rule out other cause of haematuria/ vag bleeding. I suspect vaginal bleeding, coz she will not have to wear sanitary napkins for hematuria. Anyway, a thorough check up will put our minds to rest.
If the antibiotic is the culprit (seems unlikely), go and get it on the records so it is not prescribed contained by future.

If this is an exact repeat of the last time she took this antibiotic, it will probably walk away. But, she should report this to her physician and because of this problem, they probably should have written this on her transcription and used a different antibiotic. Hopefully, this time they will write it down so it is in her dictation. Let her physician decide how this should be handle.
