Visit freecycle. It is a group on Yahoo! I own recieved lots of things from them.
Try both Freecycle.org and Craigslist.org. These are both in the US , not sure what country you are in? Both may hold local groups that may be capable of give support to you beside your desires.
Look at the places suggested consequently look for their counterparts within the UK.
