I just found out from a friend that she tested positive for Hep C. The results come after giving blood in a blood drive at work. I know this is serious (HIGHLY contagious), but newly HOW serious? And HOW is it transmitted to OTHERS from the carrier? She tell me it's from an operation (surgery) that she had within 1994, NOT any drug abuse or promiscuity.
Can it be transmitted sexually (ie, via have sexual intercourse)? She's planning on having a biopsy done on her liver. Is this learned? I've heard some incredibly BAD things about biopsies! And what just about the guy she is now living beside? They do have sex, and so should HE be concerned? (And it is NOT me for those reading this!) She also have children that she's had since that operation; are THEY at risk? And what should a soul who does have Hep C do surrounded by response? She says she's "dying" & "hasn't get long"!
I'm very concerned for her & any information, including links to informational websites dealing beside this, would be GREATLY appreciated!
