Culture is the most adjectives method (in Canada, anyway) used in public form laboratories to confirm the clinical diagnosis of HSV. It is sensitive (70% from ulcer, 94% from vesicles) and will voucher passport of HSV type (1 or 2).
PCR is 4x more sensitive than HSV culture and is 100% specific, however, at this time, PCR assays own not however replaced culture for routine diagnosis of genital herpes in public condition laboratories contained by Canada.
There are other test (much smaller quantity specific) that shouldn't be used to confirm diagnosis.
The controlled answer to your press is YES. It is possible to testing glum and still own HSV genital infection. It is not adjectives, though. If you are really concerned, ask your doc for a PCR assay experiment (if that wasn't already done).

If you have lesion, and they be tested and found unenthusiastic, next it is NOT herpes! The single testing for herpes is to swab the lesion themselves. There is no other assessment that I know of.~
