Medical cross-examine. Juicing and drinking fresh fruite on a daily basis?

Hi, i wonder if anybody could help me please, and no disrespect ment but please do not answer next to an answer you might think is correct. i am a 40 year matured man, never been surrounded by hospital. I have for the closing 20 years give or purloin some weekends been going out next to friends drinking on a Saturday, drinking mostly lager, and usually 1 or 2 shorts in between, never a problem apart from a hangover. However have just turned 40 and thinking what can i do to look after my strength i i got myself a philips juicer for christmas and since consequently i juice 1 red & 1 Apple & 1 Pear togethr daily, this give me 2 thirds of a pint, and very nice it is too. The simply thing is in a minute when i go out drinking lager nearby is no problem, but when i have a short or 2 my facade & kneck goes bright red within bloches. are my sugar levels to lofty due to all the fruit?? and is near a greater risk of becoming a diabetic? your answer would be much appriciated. thanks mindiawl.


Answers:    Drinking lots of fruit liquid, even if unsweetened may make your blood sugar height rise too high. If you resembling juice, cart it with a collation rather than on its own. If drinking because you are immensely thirsty then dilute it beside water or better still drink the hose down on its own. Drink at least 6-8 cups of fluid a daylight. Avoid sugary drinks and use the sugar-free ones where you can. Men should hold no more than 3 units of alcohol a sunshine, women should have no more than 2 unit. Don't save up adjectives your units and binge at the train of the week. Alcohol can cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar level). Drinking alcohol also make it harder to recognise a hypo and recover from it.

e.g. 1 section =

* 1/2 pt beer, lager, cider or
* 1 pub measure of sherry or
* 1 standard chalice wine or
* 1 pub measure spirit

Try to ensure the following:

* Don't drink on an derelict stomach or miss a meal so you can enjoy a drink
* If you drink beer or lager, choose ordinary ones preferably near an alcohol content of less than 5%. Low sugar 'diet' beers and lagers tend to be high in alcohol and are best avoided.
* Use sugar-free or slimline mixers
* Choose medium/dry variety of wines or sherry

You may also be at risk of having a hypo up to several hours after drinking alcohol. It is hence important to own something to eat near your drink or shortly afterwards.

Anyway, that amount of fruit in the morning is well and good for you. To enjoy a 'sugar overdose' from fruit you'd have to guzzle over a kilogram- but that wouldnt give you diabetes anyway since you dont if truth be told have diabetes your pancreas can excrete insulin which metabolises the sugar.

As regard to the drinking, you dont mention how many pints of lager you drink a dark or your unit intake of a hours of darkness.
The red blotches are a sign of vasodilation of the capillaries of your frontage in response to the alcohol. It's true that alcohol lowers your blood sugars but that's due to the detrimental affect it has on the liver.

With prolonged soaring levels of drinking, these red splotches can become permanant 'spider naevi' a sign of liver disease.

In conclusion, fruit wont afford you diabetes. Being overweight and drinking too much might.
