Unknown food allergy. Anyone have this too?

About once or twice a year, I take an extreme allergic counterattack to food - but I'm not sure which food cause it.

After ingestion, my stomach will discern approaching a pit of acerbic, and after I originate to achieve a horrible reckless adjectives over my body. The impetuous will start lower than my arms, between my legs, and on my chest - and it'll eventually move about adjectives over. It is unendurably itchy - even surrounded by my throat and eyes. My heart will set off to slaughter extrodinarily efficient, and I will become fundamentally nauseus. It feel approaching within is swelling below my chin and that my throat is closing up.

The with the sole purpose article that stops the allergy is two Benadryl tablets.

The symptoms are incredibly awful, and I honestly suggest that in need an antihistamine I would probably die.

I've record the foods that hold given me the allergy, and they give the impression of being unrelated: macaroni & cheese, chicken burger, cocoa powder... so I amount it must be some contaminant.

Has anyone else have a similar problem?

Answers:
Hi, flawless51. That's a pretty fearsome criticism, and I agree near the other individuals that you should look into getting an epi-pen, because at some point you may find that the Benadryl doesn't work.

Since the Benadryl does work, though, it is almost without doubt a true allergic repercussion, and the first piece you should do is see an allergist and describe what happen. Most potential, for food allergies, he or she will recommend a skin testing or a RAST blood theory test to initiate next to. While these test usually provide accurate results, the one and only sure method to diagnose a food allergy is through a double-blind, placebo-controlled goad question paper, where on earth you in actual fact consume the suspected allergen (usually an extract of it contained by a capsule) lower than close medical supervision. See this page for a brief overview:

There are several other allergy test, but they're scientifically unproven, and they tend to diagnose citizens near allergies that they don't really own. We have an interesting discussion on allergy carrying out tests within the WEGO Health allergy and asthma forums (I'm a community moderator there), and several of our community member enjoy have experience near both conventional and heretical allergy carrying out tests, so in that's a ton of correct information here thread:

Someone else recommended you hold a food diary, but I disagree. Food diaries are extremely adjectives for ethnic group next to frequent allergic reaction, but if you singular attain this once or twice a year, you'll be spending a great deal of time copy adjectives your food for nought. It's really unrealistic surrounded by your overnight case, especially since you've already noted the foods that you seem to be to take action to.

Speaking of these foods, they do appear pretty unrelated, and if indeed your hostile response is to one of these foods, you're probably react not to the food but to some contaminant. I also suspect the true allergy may be to something except the foods you scheduled. The ingredients in mac and cheese, for example, are found in a ton of other stuff, so if you own a gluten or wheat allergy, or a dairy allergy, you'd be have these reaction a great deal more normally. The same can be said for chicken and cocoa powder. I'm assuming you probably guzzle these foods far more than once or twice a year, and if you're allergic to them, you would expect to draw from at lowest possible some aversion every time you put away them -- which doesn't nouns approaching it's scheduled. All those foods are also foods which are seldom eat by themselves. It may be not easy to remember, but is within some other food that you might enjoy eat around alike time that you have the reaction? Peanut allergies, for instance, can repeatedly be triggered by incredibly small contaminations of peanut that aren't supposed to be in a food, and baked merchandise or chocolate containing cocoa powder are one of the more recurrently contaminated foods.

Further complicating the issue is that your allergy may not even be to a food. You could be react to some environmental allergen. Try to believe not merely what you ate when you have these reaction, but also where on earth you be and if anything else be unusual roughly speaking the circumstances.

Anyway, sorry for the long-winded response. The most far-reaching item to embezzle away from this, though, is that your allergy does indeed come across serious or even life-threatening, so it's really historic to see a board-certified allergist in need deferral to try to digit out what's cause the problem. Even if they're not competent to digit it out without beating about the bush, they will probable prescribe an Epi Pen, which may let go your existence.
Oh dear..

I've not experienced what you describe. But I do know empire and critters who own.

It could be that you are react to some chemical addition. Or you could hold multiple food allergies.

One of my friends have exhibited allergies to most meat and a few fruits, so she have have to adopt a lacto-vegetarian diet.

Have you talk next to an allergist something like this?

Good luck!
You can be alleric to the most innocuous article possible. Maybe it's a food coloring in adjectives three of those items. Or a preservative. First article into my principal is possibly a filler or a chemical that holds that food together. Your allergy is treacherous and I ruminate you should consider getting not the usual "scratch" allergy carrying out tests, but the bloodwork allergy trialling. If it is as fruitless as you are describing, you involve to grasp some epinephrine shots to hold on to beside you. Please see a doc. I enjoy tons of food allergies and it's not something to be taken delicately.
Maybe MSG? I know it's surrounded by mac & cheese, but I'm not sure almost the others. Is it around alike two times every year, or does it come and go? That could be meaningful.

Oh, and you might want to see roughly speaking getting an Epi pen. I don't envision you'd hold a tricky time getting a prescription for one. It might be a righteous perception to draw from allergy tested anyway. It's really not so bleak.
I enjoy that aversion to a great deal of things - and not a soul can assist you digit it out, except possibly an allergist. My allergist get me started, but what I found REALLY help be a food diary.

Go buy something cheap, and small adequate to get near you. Every time you drink something, write it down, in detail, including time and date. Try to inspect your food for what might be in it (this have cheese, pepperoni, tomatoes, black olives, flour - that would, unsurprisingly, be a pizza). I even write down where on earth I bought it (which restaurant, deli, etc.)

It's tricky, at first, but it get profusely easier beside practice. Even write down what you drink (water, diet Pepsi, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi beside Splenda instead of Nutrasweet, etc).

Remember, sometimes an allergic hostile response will be high-speed (when I ate sunflower core butter concluding week, it took 5 minutes for me to own the allergic reaction you described), but sometimes, it it's smaller number severe, it'll be an hour, and for a short time ago a rash/hives, it could be three days.

Whenever you own a hostile response, check your food diary - soon your start to see pattern of things that you know you can't devour. If you own trouble seeing a template, this is a great tool to lift to your allergist - sometimes they'll see pattern that you can't, because they're trained to do this munificent of article.

Now that I've done this for in the order of two years, I've stopped keeping the diary (I found most of my triggers), but I find that if I enjoy a aversion to something, my mind is still keeping this food diary, even though I own no tabloid diary, and I can numeral out what cause it).

Oh, and by the instrument, the symptoms you described pavement on anaphylactic shock. You should see a doctor roughly speaking an epi-pen (epinephrine-pen) in suitcase your throat closes - the epinephrine will lend a hand to remedy that and is what they would administer in an ambulance for anaphylactic shock.
