Mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV), a bough of the betaretroviridae, is the most adjectives basis of breast cancer (BC) within mice. MMTV is transmitted surrounded by mice both surrounded by the germline as endogenous proviruses and exogenously as infectious virions. Here, we review an assortment of evidence accumulate for six decades that have suggested that a human homologue of MMTV may exist.
