What would basis an abdominal abscess surrounded by an 11 year infirm girl? What virtuous will cephalexin do?

And where does the pus budge if we don't (fingers crossed) have to resort to surgery?

My daughter developed a bulge within her lower right abdominal quadrant, quite tender to the touch. She is otherwise asymptomatic - no frenzy or nausea. She is just turned 11 and have not started menstruating. The bulge is the shape and size of a pinkie finger and is the region I'd assume her ovary is in. When she stands straight or lays down, it is evident.

The doctor said it's an abscess. She put her on cephalexin anibiotic on Friday and just told me to bring in sure the bulge goes down over the weekend. Natually, she's at her dad's this weekend...so I'm vanished here to stew and hang out on Answers! When I talk to her last dark she said it seemed close to it is the same size. The doctor say if it doesn't go down by Monday, we involve to call her put money on and go within for ultrasounds, etc.

Any advice appreciated....
Companion (pre-diagnosis) put somebody through the mill posted under Women's Health category. Thank you again!

Answers:    The doctor should never hold made a diagnosis without doing test before putting her on an antibiotic. This doesn't variety any sense. Your daughter should have have an ultrasound first to see what it is. I don't think she have an abscess, if she did, it would need to be surgically drained and put on antibiotics. She may only have a big ovarian cyst and the antibiotic is not going to do anything for that. Usually cyst stir away on their own. Make sure you call the doctor final on Monday and question her nearly the diagnosis. If she doesn't give you the answers you want, bear her to another doctor or to your ob/gyn doctor..........Good Luck............
Seek a second opinion. I enjoy never heard of a doctor not running test (MRI, Ultrasound, Cat Scan, blood tests and etc.) to determine what it is. It seem that he/she has diagnosed the problem minus running the necessary test.

I have hear doctors state what they think it is but run test to confirm what it is and then administer the proper medication.

Anything can lead to an abscess. Your daughter should have have a CAT scan so they could confirm it right away, and they could have drained it using a surgical technique. You really call for a second opinion and not travel back to that doctor again!
