Why don't doctors check for systemic infections or molds BEFORE prescribing antibiotics which can inflame a simple infection into a life threatening one?

Because most antibiotics are generalized and can treat many oodles types of infections. In MOST cases, a general antibiotic can cure the infection. Also doctors tend to trade name their decision base on what you tell them as far as how you get your infection. Letting them know you have a ton of mold surrounded by your home will probably have them examination you for certain molds..But it adjectives boils down to your doctor's judgement call. If your that worrioed just about it, everytime you need an antibiotic ask them to enjoy yourself tested.
