Im 16 and i suffer from pannick attacks and anxiety problems. I went to my doctor and he told me i have a heart murmur, but that it was completly conventional and that i could keep on playing soccer.
I enjoy a soccer game today , and he said i could play , but later what is getting me worried is that he also wants me to own an echocardiogram done. Im scared because i ponder im gonna die from a heart attack or something.
I dont know if i should play or not, if the murmur is benign as he says, why does he want an echocardiogram done?
Answers: Don't verbs... MANY people enjoy heart murmur that are never even diagnosed. I had a cardiologist explain to me that as much as 50% of the population could have heart murmurs. It's lately that unless you have the EKG or sonogram to know for sure, you would never know.
He probably requirements to do that to make sure nearby are no other issues going on with your heart, that it is a moment ago the murmur. All that means is that one of your valve doesn't close the best. But it doesn't mean you are at risk of a heart attack.
You could look at it this opening. Many people own moles. They are harmless. They are a skin anomaly, but they are non-hazardous. Same with a heart murmur.
You're fine. If you hadn't have panic attacks and gone to a doc nearly it, you could have lived your unharmed life never knowing you have a heart murmur - they are that harmless.
Keep playing. You probably enjoy a functional systolic murmur and he wants the resonate to rule out a mild MVP. (mitral valve prolapse). Stop worrying.
