My Father has throat cancer (voice box) and have a trach in his d¨Ścolletage because the mass in his throat could cut oxygen to his windpipe. Therefore he can not swallow food.
They can not start any treatments on him until his immune system is built up and he gain weight, he is immensely malnurished.
He now have a feeding tube within stomach to feed him but I grain like time is wasting away, is in that anything we can do to help boost him so he can start his treatments sooner? someone recommended to me homeopathy meds... but what? I don't know around this stuff?
Answers: Are they giving him Neulasta/Neupogen injections? These build up the white blood counts, higher your white blood counts, easier it is for you to disagree off stuff. If my white counts be too low, I couldn't have chemotherapy. This stuff boosts you up. Ask the oncologist around it.
Im sorry. It sounds like he is not doing okay. Probably he has a low white cell blood count and other blood component which system radiation or chemo would kill him. I hope he is comfortable. There are plentifully of alternative treatments available but have not be proven. If he trusts his physician I would say to maintain on with the plan the means of access it is as the feedings do have nutrients. Perhaps the Dr can grant statistics on survival so everyone knows the likelihood? I am sorry.
