I've been Type 1 for 24 years since I be a kid, have be on a Minimed pump for 5. I eat moderately, roughly 150-200g of carb daily and lots of forceful foods. I exercise several times a week, and am fortunate to be in righteous shape overall. But I still get so copious unexplained highs and lows and I have a feeling like I'm on a rollercoaster sometimes! I seize frustrated when I hear people voice "My numbers are always obedient, I'm barely ever out of continuum." Are they exaggerating? No matter how lots fastings I do to tighten my basal and bolus rates, I still seem to fluctuate so much. I assessment 7-8 times a day and be paid corrections as needed, and I've been told I'm fundamentally good at counting carbs. Is within something wrong with me? Or is this basically as good as it will seize, where I will of late have to correct impossible BG's and move on? My ultimate A1C was 6.5, which is well brought-up, but that's just an average! What have worked for you to decrease this?
Answers: Boy do I know what you mingy!! Despite the extent of our invovlement as parents, Gina (age 5) has poor blood sugar control. They told us that she may outgrow this aspect, but beside every year that goes by, it looks smaller amount and less similar to that will happen. They say aloud some diabetics are just resembling this. It's something we have to live near. Gina has 9 basal settings, countless carb and sensitivity settings. Being on the pump help a lot but it hasn't allowed us to come down from the 8-10 checks we rob each year.
We're currently under appeal for a continuous BG monitoring program, which fortunately, can be activate on her current pump, so she doesn't have to switch pumps if the appeal go through. I'm told that with twice-daily calibration, we can run down the BS checks and keep her sugars better manage.
I too get a bit jealous when I hear empire talk going on for their great numbers. What's more maddening though is the ignorance that comes beside the bad numbers. The assumption is that we're lax as parents.
Relax. The proof of the pudding is your A1C and your is fine. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it. New studies are showing that too low A1C's (below 6.0) are not beneficial for Type Ones. I'm Type One 54 yrs.
