Yikes...that's hurtful. Let me try to put it contained by layman's lingo for you:
The pelvis is made up of eight bones...respectively side have four. The ilium is the ample, wing-like bone that you perceive when you poke your "hip bones." It extends down and help to net up the acetabulum, or hip socket. You can find a righteous picture here:

What this fracture process is, the ilium broke contained by an implied (angled) channel. When something "extends inferior," that manner that the fracture go downwards into the acetabulum itself. As you probably know, the inside of the bones is made up of living tissue call marrow. Like any genus of living tissue, when it undergo trauma, the tissue will form a bruise, or "contusion."
