Loss of muscle??!?

i of late took my pattern past its sell-by date after 6wks (ankle fracture). And my foot is severely atrophied. I hear that race carry loss o f muscle one and only within their calf muscle (which i own too) but not surrounded by nearby foot. Is it ordinary to enjoy atrophy surrounded by my foot?
