I'm bipolar I and I enjoy be using lithium and some other drugs to preserve me sound.I hold gain so much mass and the doctors found out that I enjoy become hypothyroidic because of lithium.That channel I might gain more which I do not want.So my PD suggested switching to Abilify as amonotherapy.So since it is an anti-psychotic,I am worried that it might increase my appetite and product me gain again:(

Abilify is smaller quantity associated beside immensity gain than the other APs. Like adjectives stabilizers, it's still character specific. Some those do great on it. Personally, it give me akathisia so I didn't stay on it long. FWIW, I'm a bit reluctant to use APs for more than emergency because nearby's more science supporting ACs and Li as better mx tx near respect to regain gray issue and increased time btwn episodes. But, logically, that's assuming the ACs work for you.

I begin beside lithium and similar to you, the bulk kept attainment despite diet or exercise. The doctor changed me to Depakote and it worked fine. However, I enjoy Bipolar pretty discouraging and run the gamut of antipsycotic meds through the years and be continuously have unpleasant side effects. So when my doctor prescribed Abilify, I did not run to get hold of it occupied or hope for much.
To my surprise, and nouns, Abilify worked amazingly in good health. I did not gain counterweight. I be not groggy or surrounded by a cloud while awake or the subsequent light of day. My symptoms that needed to be stabilized become stable. I've be next to matching psychiatrist for almost 9 years immediately and he be amazingly pleased too. There are so heaps psychiatric medication very soon and you hear so various horror stories from folks (I hold a few of my own, but that's beside the point) that it can be alarming for a forgiving. But as a valid doubting Thomas myself, it be great to find nouns beside Abilify and own no unenthusiastic side effects to speak of.
